WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT

You’ll meet the doctor after filling out some brief paperwork. (You can download the paperwork by clicking the paperwork image below and bring it to the office already filled out to save time.) If you are using insurance, bring a copy of your insurance card and a form of picture ID with you.

You shouldn’t have to go through a mountain of paperwork. Download your New Patient Packet from our site and fill it out in the comfort of your home or office to save time.

The doctor will go over your health history and your health goals with you so that you may both get to know each other. Following the consultation, an exam follows that includes muscle testing, range of motion testing, posture analysis, manual palpation and some basic orthopedic and neurological tests. This helps to locate areas of your spine that could be the cause of your problem.

Then the doctor will perform an X-ray study on you (unless you are pregnant or nursing, or are a very small child with only mild to moderate symptoms) to determine the extent of instability, if any, in your spine and how it correlates to both your symptoms and the findings from your exam.

After studying the results of your exam and X-rays, Dr. Steve will then go over his findings with you to determine if chiropractic care is right for you. If the doctor feels that he can help you with your problem and if you feel that you understand your condition and how chiropractic can help, then treatment will be rendered. If he finds that your problem may benefit from consulting a different practitioner or further imaging studies, he will make the appropriate referral for you.

Chiropractic helps reduce interferences in your nervous system and "reconnects" the vital communication link between your brain and your body.

Chiropractic helps reduce interferences in your nervous system and "reconnects" the vital communication link between your brain and your body.

Before any chiropractic treatment is rendered however, it is important to understand that chiropractors do not treat individual symptoms. Rather, chiropractic seeks to correct the misaligned structure of the body and in particular the spine. The corrective procedures to the spine, called adjustments, affect the neurological system, the skeletal system, and the muscular system. In doing so, over time, the dysfunction that caused the symptoms begins to lessen, and symptoms are relieved.
